Technical Architecture has evolved from the basis of software project governance from which it emerged. In the area of Oracle this can mean anything from making software selections and deciding development standards to choosing a data replication mechanism or selecting a suitable disaster recovery site. Equally important for the technical architect at this stage is the ability to communicate technical concepts at an appropriate level from business stakeholder to java developer.
Even the smallest Oracle investment can benefit from the engagement of a technical architect. The documentation provided can guide software developers and implementers in their daily work and will help to keep projects on track as they progress and change. Whilst the early and continued involvement of the architect can aid the development of a business case and supplement cost benefit analysis.
We can provide a range of architectural services, from a full documented system architecture through to a review of a targeted area.
Examples of previous architecture enagements:
- A private sector customer implementing Oracle in a high availability environment. Services were provided to determine acceptable outages in the event of a disaster and then to plan the business continuity process for Oracle databases within these limits.
- A financial institution was planning a hardware refresh and data centre migration. Services were provided to confirm the sizing of new hardware and to plan the migration of data within acceptable business outages. Hardware sizings were presented at executive level prior to the migration and again following implementation along with machine data proving the accurate sizing of the hardware.
